Juley Juley!!
Shana Tova and happy holidays to you all...
We returned yesterday from our trek. 5 days including the mild mountain pass Ganda La ~ 4900m. Unlike our usual tendency, we took the full trekking deal including morning tea to the tent, packed lunch for the day, tea and snacks at camp and a variety dinner menu (chicken curry, veg. curries, veg. momos, chow mien etc.). The star attraction being the hot water bottles that were a real life saver for hila on the cold nights :) Its really amazing what one can do with a full camping kitchen set and the right ingredients, even chocolate cake, kudos to our guide-cum-cook. We only did 5 days trekking and only got a half day look into the Markha valley (which was our original plan) because of fear of weather problems, though eventually we had clear blue skies throughout the trip as you can see from the photos. Sadly on our last day, after all our stuff was hauled onto the taxi to Leh, one of our bags containing sleeping mats and our precious tent fell off the top of the taxi as things tied to the roof sometimes have a tendency to do... So after bragging throughout the trek at how our tent was soooooo coool... we managed to loose it :(... Bad luck as our guide said... ya real bad luck... well at least we have less to carry now... Even with this loss we really enjoyed the trek and only wished it were a tad longer...
In the time we have left in Ladakh (till the 14th) we will spend village hopping & Gompa gazing throughout the Indus valley hope fully we will bring you these photos before our flight (uploading pics here is a bitch!! )

This is Uri drying his clothes after clumsily falling into the river (waist deep brrrr..)

(sorry these are small)

Our lost tent :(

We needed to cross the Zanskar river at the end of the trek, no bridges here yet so you can see hila in a little box being pulled across the river, her smile is fear ;)

Thats it for now... next post when we finish village hoping around the Indus valley...
happy holidays to you all !!!

The whole area looks like a dry and cold desert. No folowers or trees. I see some other treckers in your picture after your diving into the river. no pictures of the horses and guides. How was the food? How was the guide's knowledge on the flora nad founa of the area?
From our conversation I had the impression that the guide lost the his tent, not yours. You expect him to pay for your tent? Do you think he has a customer's insurance?
Enjoy the rest of your trip. Be healthy and safe.
